Kathmandu: A special meeting of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association (NPFCA), held under the chairmanship of its general secretary Dr Manju Ratna Sakya at its office in Kalimati, expressed deep condolences on the untimely demise of NPFCA chairman Himalaya Shumsher Rana.
It prayed the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul. Rana passed away on Magh 22, 2079 B.S. The meeting also expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
The meeting nominated Dr. Sakya as the president of Association as per the wish of late Himalaya Shumsher Rana.
While addressing a function organised to mark Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day at Marriot Hotel in Kathmandu on August 14, 2022 in the presence of Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, late Rana had announced that Dr Sakya would succeed him as he was unable to lead the Association owing to his illness.
Similarly, the meeting nominated Central Committee member Daniel Man Prajapati to the post of general secretary that lay vacant after outgoing general secretary Dr. Sakya appointment to its head.

Meanwhile, newly appointed president of Association Dr. Sakya was born on January 1, 1946 at Kohity Bahal in Kathmandu. He did his Master’s Degree in Commerce from Tribhuvan University in 1967. He also did PhD in political science.
During his more than six-decade-long journalism career, Dr Sakya has assumed several responsibilities in his various capacities. He is the president of Nepal Journalist Association, Chief Editor and Publisher of Arpan Weekly and vice-president of Nepal-Korea Friendship Association also.
He has been honoured with more than a dozen medals, decorations and awards, including Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, Third SAARC Medal and Nepal-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations Golden Jubilee Friendship Award. Dr Sakya has visited over 50 countries of Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.
He has been Awarded (T.p.K) Tamgha-i-Pakistan which is Conferred by Rt. Hon’ble President of Pakistan Mr. Mamnoon Hussain. Decorated on 14th August 2015 for his services to strengthen Pakistan-Nepal relation.

He is a Editor / Managing Editor of “Arpan” Weekly, an executive member of Nepal Journalists Association (NJA) and Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association.
As an IT expert, he has been handling the websites of different organisations, including Juchhe-Nepal, NJA, and NPFCA, among others. He is also Artist and Event Manager and worked as DJ, VJ, Audio and Visual Technician.
He has visited China, Pakistan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Thailand and Oman. He has shown his leadership mettle at a young age by actively participating in social, cultural and medical activities.
