Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association (NPFCA)
celebrated 75th Independence Day of Pakistan at Kathmandu Marroitt Hotel
on 14th August 2022 (29 th Shrawan 2079) Sunday .
Rt. Hon’ble Vice President Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun graced the
occasion as the Chief Guest.
The program was inaugurated by Rt. Hon’ble Vice- President Nanda
Bahadur Pun by lighting in a traditional oil- fed Panas lamp.
Delivering Welcome address, NPFCA President Mr. Himalaya S. Rana
said:“The Government of Nepal has historically extended diplomatic
relationship with countries of the world across all continents. According to
the Foreign Ministry the latest number of countries with whom diplomatic
relationship has been established is one hundred seventy-six. Such expansion
of diplomatic relationships has certainly projected the image of Nepal as a
peaceful country endowed with diverse fauna, flora and snow-capped peaks,
teeming with exquisitely crafted temples and stupas famous for their stone
and wood carvings.
The expansion of our various diplomatic relationships has required the
government of Nepal to contend with the agenda of various super powers, in
addition to pressures from our giant neighboring countries.”
Further Mr. Rana said:”It has been a memorable experience working
together with the ambassadors and officials of the Pakistan Embassy to
further strengthen the bond of friendship between our two countries.
We have conducted numerous free medical camps in different locations
targeting low-income patients. These camps have been well-attended and
have created immense goodwill. In the sector of education, an essay
competition by graduates has been held, and bright students selected from
public schools located in most of the districts have been encouraged with
cash prizes every year. Scholarships in pharmacology, medicine, engineering,
journalism and art are awarded to talented Nepali students selected by the
government of Nepal and the Embassy of Pakistan every year.”
Mr. Rana also said that “The government to government and people to
people relationship with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been one of its
kind, characterized by cordiality in all spheres and no stresses. “
At the program, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security
Sher Bahadur Kunwar said that “Nepal and Pakistan had maintained cordial
ties since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1960 and this
bond would continue to grow in the days to come.”
Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mr. Sher
Bahadur Kunwar recalled the close and cordial ties between Nepal and
Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan’s support to Nepal in its developments
endeavors.
Minister Kunwar also expressed happiness on existing friendly
relations between Nepal and Pakistan.
On behalf of Government of Nepal, Minister Kunwar congratulated to
the Government and the people of Pakistan on the occasion of 75 th
Independence Day of Pakistan.
Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Syed Haider Shah appreciated
NPFCA for its role in promoting Nepal-Pakistan relations. Stating that the
two nations share common cultural and civilizational ethos, the Pakistani
envoy noted that his country always prosperity and peace in Nepal. He
reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and development and underlined
the need for resolution of all outstanding issues through dialogue and
peaceful means for lasting peace and prosperity of people of South Asia.
While congratulating to the Government and People of Pakistan,
General Secretary of NPFCA Dr. Manju Ratna Sakya highlighted on the
different activities organised by NPFCA including Free Medical Camps and
Distribution of Relief Materials at Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Dhulikhel areas
during lockdown period.
Dr. Sakya also mentioned the distribution of Wheel Chair, Laptop,
Video Camera, Projectors, Photocopy machine and Computer sets at Free
Medical Camps. He said Nepalese Doctors who graduated from Pakistan
serving at Camps providing six months free medicines to all the patients of
these areas.
Further , NPFCA General Secretary Dr. Sakya expressed sincere thanks
to Government of Pakistan for providing 43 million Nepalese Rupees and
“Made in Pakistan” medical equipment consisting of 30 ventilators & 30
CPAP Breathing Equipment worth over Rs. 19 millionNepalese Rupees as
part of Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Program.
Further, Dr. Sakya also said that existing friendly relations between
Nepal and Pakistan is very excellent.
At the program, Rt. Hon’ble Vice President Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun,
H.E. Ambassador of Pakistan Syed Haider Shah , Minister for Labor,
Employment and Social Security Sher Bahadur Kunwar and NPFCA
Chairman Mr. Himalaya S. Rana cut the cake jointly.
At the programe , political leaders from different parties including Dr.
Ram Sharan Mahat, Mr. Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Mr. C.P. Mainali , Mr. C.P.
Gajurel , Mr. Udaya S. Rana , KMC Deputy Myaor Ms. Sunita Dangol and
KMC Former Deputy Mayor Mrs. Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha were
present.
Likewise, Representing MOFA, Secretary of Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyal, Chief of Protocol Mr. Sudhir Bhattarai, and
Deputy Chief of Protocol Mr. Revati Raman Paudel were also present.
Ambassadors from varios Countries and SARC Director from Pakistan
were also present.
Likewise, Begum of H.E. Ambassador Syed Haider Shah Mrs.
Palwasha Haider, and officials of Embassy of Pakistan with their Begum
were present.
The people from different walks of life, including former Nepalese
Ambassador, officials of Nepali Army and Police Vice Chancellors of
different University, Super Star Shiva Shrestha , journalists, business persons
and high-ranking government officials attended the programme.
Doctors, Professors, Engineers, Advocates and media personalities
were also present.
The program was followed by Dinner.
